Dr. Rojeh Melikian,
Microscopic & Reconstructive Spine Surgeon


Dr. Rojeh Melikian is a board-certified, Harvard and Emory University trained spine surgeon who specializes in minimally-invasive microsurgical and microendoscopic techniques to treat a wide variety of spinal disorders including disc herniations, neck or back degeneration, spinal stenosis, tumors and fractures.  He has expertise in motion-preserving techniques such as artificial disk replacement and conducts research on non-surgical stem cell therapies. He has presented on spinal diseases at national conferences and received numerous awards for his research and exemplary patient care, including the Partners in Excellence Award, Patient’s Choice Awards and being regularly selected as one of Los Angeles Magazine’s and Orange Coast Magazine’s Top Doctors.  He has been featured in several publications and programs, including CBS Television’s Ask the Expert, Orthopedics Today, Prevention Magazine, Santa Monica Mirror, WestSideToday.com, SuperDoctors, Los Angeles Magazine and NextAvenue.org

 After graduating with top honors and summa cum laude with a degree in Neuroscience from UCLA, Dr. Melikian completed medical school at the University of Southern California, where he was nominated to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated with highest distinction as one of the top students in his class.  Following medical school, Dr. Melikian completed his surgical training at the prestigious Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program, where he published numerous articles and was appointed as Chief Resident at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He also received the Partners in Excellence Award, for his exemplary performance and contributions “above and beyond the call of duty.”  As a Spine Fellow at Emory University, one of the most renowned spine surgery fellowships in the country, Dr. Melikian received combined orthopaedic and neurosurgical training in complex spinal surgery, scoliosis, as well as spine tumors.   Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children and outdoor activities such as skiing.
